    • Enhanced failsafe functionality to protect data if an internet connection is lost
  • Auto-sensing/auto-sizing:  New functionality that streamlines and simplifies delivery assessments to multiple devices and in multiple contexts.
  • New capabilities for ensuring accessibility of assessments
  • Support for multilingual assessments and delivery
  • New deployment options, enhanced security, better scalability and use of easier-to-maintain industry standard technologies.

Auto-Sensing and Auto-Sizing
Delivery to mobile devices

Perception Version 5's new auto-sensing, auto-sizing delivery features take the guesswork out of blended delivery, enabling you to author an assessment once, schedule it once and then deliver it in as many different ways as they like. Now it's easier than ever to deliver assessments to multiple different types of devices (including smartphones and internet-connected handhelds such as the Apple iPhone), or to create learning and assessment mash-ups by embedding quizzes or surveys within wikis, blogs and web pages.

Perception Version 5's new auto-sensing, auto-sizing delivery features take the guesswork out of blended delivery, enabling you to author an assessment once, schedule it once and then deliver it in as many different ways as they like.

When delivering an assessment, Perception v5 auto-senses the participant’s device and browser, then delivers the assessment formatted appropriately for the device/browser’s requirements. Perception’s “on the fly” auto-sizing dynamically adjusts and sizes the “screen furniture” and “skin” of an assessment – the buttons, controls and template graphics — so they fit (and look great) on just about any screen size or resolution imaginable.

Accessibility
Accessibility icon As more and more organisations are delivering assessments on-screen, legal and ethical issues are compelling them to better accommodate the needs of participants with disabilities. Perception version 5 includes new capabilities for improving the accessibility of assessments in adherence to WCAG standards.
  • Delivery software renders HTML optimized to work with assistive technologies such as screen readers
  • Assessment templates include text-sizing and contrast controls within assessments to aid participants with low/partial vision:

  • Improved capabilities for navigation of assessments via keyboard and/or alternate devices to accommodate participants who are unable to use a mouse.

These and other improvements will help organizations comply with Web accessibility standards such as those described in Section 508 Web accessibility standards in the United States and the International web Accessibility Initiative Guidelines (WCAG) of the World  Wide Web Consortium (WC3).

Streamlined Multilingual Assessments
Earth

Questionmark Perception version 5's optional Translation Management System helps test publishers, businesses and other organisations that need to deliver assessments in multiple languages by streamlining the management and delivery of localised content to multinational workforces.

Translations can be conducted on the fly within a new browser-based tool in Perception, or items and assessments can be exported for translation by a third-party application or vendor.

Once translated, the assessments remain connected to their base-language counterparts for efficient management of subsequent edits and reporting:
