Results Management System

Analyze, Modify and Publish Assessment Results

Background

Organizations involved in medium and high-stakes testing must employ sound test development, administration and scoring processes to help ensure fair, reliable and valid assessments. But despite the best efforts to achieve this goal, there is always the potential for circumstances within or beyond an organization’s control that warrant the review and potential modification of results to provide information and certificates that fairly reflect what was being measured.

What is the Results Management System?

The Results Management System (RMS) enables organizations to analyze, edit and publish assessment results in an informed and defensible way. The RMS enables organizations to:

  • Manage assessment results in a professional and defensible way to convert them into meaningful data for the organization (e.g. grades, certificates, other measures of achievement)
  • Drop questions from scoring or change the way a question is scored after an assessment has been delivered
  • Obtain integrated, dynamic statistical information in an easily digestible form to make informed decisions about what items to drop, or whether and how the scoring of the questions should be changed
  • Analyze beta tested results to select the best items to place on a medium/high stakes assessment

How it Works

Working seamlessly with Questionmark™ Perception™, the Results Management System enables you to you to analyze and edit results before they are finalized and shared with stakeholders. Users can import results directly from a Perception repository, view item and test statistics, drop or change questions and pass scores, check the results, and then publish into a locked down format.

Using standard web-browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, RMS users may:

  • Review test items and drop, credit or alter scoring
  • Review test results and define a pass or cut score
  • Get a real-time preview of how proposed changes will impact overall item statistics and test reliability
  • Publish results into a flat file database for easy access by reporting tools
  • Maintain changes within an audit trail to aid legal defensibility

Key Benefits
  • Fully integrated view item and test statistics enables a complete view of how your test is performing
  • User-friendly interface with color coded-icons to flag questions that demonstrate poor or borderline performance
  • Get a real-time preview of how proposed changes will impact overall item statistics and test reliability
  • Make the change once and have it globally applied to all participant results.
  • Published results saved in a simple, flat format easily imported into third-party reporting tools
  • Maintain changes within an audit trail to aid assessment defensibility

Ideal for Medium and High Stakes Assessments

A few examples of organizations that can benefit from the RMS include:

  • Corporate training in which internal certification occurs
  • Awarding bodies who deliver medium to high stakes assessments
  • Universities and colleges delivering summative exams
  • Offices of institutional research at universities and colleges
